TBS Nation,

Again a bit of a cold morning which means a cold school.  Dress warmer today as it is taking a long time for things to get up to temperature today.  Hopefully we won’t have to many more of these days below zero!
Just a few reminders – Don’t forget about our souped up fundraiser coming up this March.  Many are selling tickets and it seems to be going well.  You all can hear me on the KFIZ at 7:20 am Wednesday Morning supporting our school by promoting this event with Wade Bates and the morning show!  Also, boys basketball is only one week away from being complete.  There are two more opportunities to see Alex play.  Tuesday we travel to Milwaukee and take on Calvary Baptist School and then a week from today we play against Wyldewood at home.  My final reminder today concerns WACS.  Don’t forget about the WACS Fine Arts Competition coming up.  It tends to sneak up on everybody.  Students should be preparing songs, working on art or photography as well as studying for tests.

TBS Nation,

Friday it is and we are all Happy, Happy, Happy about that!  Congratulations to Tyler Martin and Ryan Kaufman on a substantial win at Riverside Elementary School last evening.  Both of our boys played extremely well. Tyler Martin had tenacious defensive stops while Ryan handled the ball with precision – each must take after their moms!  They won with a score of 19 – 12 so congratulate these two when you see them this morning.
Six below zero was not the temperature that I wanted to wake up to but it is Wisconsin and it is February and we are in the Mid-west and it is supposed to get cold here and …….well you get the idea.

TBS Nation,

Cold again this morning……seems like a broken record.  This is officially the 8th coldest winter on record with the average temperature only reaching 10.4 degrees.  We are only one degree shy of this being the second coldest on record.  We would have to beat a 6.5 degree (1976-77) mark to receive 1st place.  No Thanks!

8:15am – Normal School Day

TBS Nation,

TBS Hosted about 40 people to watch the Bill Nye / Ken Ham debate last night.  It was good to see the support shown for the Biblical Creation Worldview, but sadly there were many who celebrated the fact that again Man’s reason was able to beat out a literal God and the Bible.  This is why we have our school.  We exist to continue to teach our children God’s truth.  How long does it take before that disappears in your own life when you are not focused on Christ let alone your child’s life and heart.  I am convinced that Satan has a tighter grip on our world and I am going to stand against that and fight the battle I know I will never win so that I, one day can stand before my Holy judge and hear the words, “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant”!

Is your family actively in the fight?  Do you plan your day with the intention of spreading the gospel?  Is your heart hurt as you see the world around you?  If you don’t have an interest in truth or God’s work or His word you may want to check your heart to see if you are actually following him.  There is a difference between being a fan of Christianity and being in the game! I recommend you read the book “Not a Fan”.  Great reset button in the midst of a world like ours!

Ok enough venting…..Here is your day:

6:30am – Before School Care (Jeremy Shaeffer)
8:15am – Normal School Day

TBS Nation,

Those of you who know Dave Shell know that he is not doing well.  He is trying to recover from some infections that are making him have some major problems with his colon.  Keep Dave in your prayers today as well as his wife Audrey.  Dave has been a huge help to all of us at TBS and we hope to see him make a full recovery.  Monday is behind us and the rest of the week temperature wise seems no different.  Our average high should be around 25 degrees.  Does anybody remember when we hit 25 degrees last?  I can’t remember either.  Well it does not matter at this point because spring is coming and I was reminded by some of my staff that there are only 68 actual school days left.  How’s that for scary!

Here is you look at Tuesday:

6:30am – Before School Care (Jeremy Shaeffer)
8:15am – Normal School Day
3:15pm – After School Care (Kimberly Krause)
3:15pm – BBall Practice
5:45pm – Live Stream Debate @ Trinity Baptist School / Bill Nye & Ken Ham
7:30pm – City Lights Practice @ TBC

TBS Nation,

The Auction was a great success and God truly blessed that event!  Thank you to all of involved, I deeply appreciate your efforts on our schools behalf!  It was -18 degrees again this morning and the Shaeffer van needed some help getting started but needless to say we are having school today.  The building is a bit cooler today as we have not run the heat as long during the night.  This week seems normal however there are some interesting things that I would like to be aware of.  First, TBS will be hosting a Live Stream of a debate between Bill Ney (The Science Guy) and Ken Ham (Answers in Genesis / President).  They will be debating at 6:00pm CST and I want to make it available to TBS Families to expose our kids to the differences between truth (God’s Word) and heresy (Evolution & Lies).  The doors will be open @ 5:45pm and the Live Stream will be in Mr. Shaeffer’s Classroom.  Please RSVP by sending and email to: jshaeffer@trinityfdl.net.  Second, on Thursday, February 6th, TBS will host a Financial Prayer night.  This evening will simply be individuals who love our school getting together and praying for the financial stability of our institution.  We have challenges and even this year tuition monies are making operations tight, however we are committed to praying for the success of our families and asking God to help deliver us from the debt that we have carried for many years now.  Join us as we intercede on behalf of our school Thursday night @ 6:00pm.  Finally, I would like to announce that TBS will be putting on a Spring Play written by Rachel Tompkins and Co-directed by Jeremy Shaeffer and Rachel Tompkins.  Practices have already begun and we will be continuing to do them during last hour on Tuesday/Thursday until after WACS is over in the first week of March.  We would encourage you to be thinking of attending and making this a part of your April.  Final dates of performances of “The Dash” will be posted soon!

Souped Up!
I know we just got finished doing a huge fundraiser and don’t want to think about doing another one but this is a good chance to work off some of that Fundraising Fee that each family has.  Tickets to the event are already in the office.  I am going to ask that each family take at least 10 tickets and give you the responsibility of selling these to friends, family, neighbors and public.  As principal I am doing some fun things to help give motivation.  For the following:

Parents:  The Parent (Mom or Dad) who sells over 50 tickets is eligible for a drawing for an overnight stay at the Four Seasons Resort (Northern Wisconsin)
Elementary Students (PreK – 5th):  The student that sells the most tickets will win a fun day at Monkey Joes – Appleton, WI
Jr/Sr High:  The student that sells over 75 tickets will be eligible for the drawing of the Mountain of Dew / $100.00 Simon Mall Gift Card

We are looking to sell 400 tickets to earn $1,500.00  Thanks in advance for your help with this event!

TBS Closed:  NO SCHOOL Due to Cold / Wind Chill

So Sorry to announce that we will have to be closed again Tuesday.  The temperatures inside our building will be unable to catch up to acceptable levels.  The heat is running through the night to keep hopes alive for Wednesday.  Students can be doing some reading and online educational activities.  Challenge them to read God’s word.  Those who are involved in the Play this Spring can use the time to memorize lines!

We will keep you posted as Tuesday night approaches if there will be any delays to Wednesday morning.

A huge thanks to Dan Leeds for helping move Auction tables and chairs this afternoon in the below zero temperatures.  We are making final preparations for the big event.  We will continue to update facebook as we get closer.  Please invite your friends and co-workers to the event.  We are looking forward to a good night regardless of the temperature!
