TBS Nation,

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the rest of the Fall just like this week?  Cool in the mornings and nice and warm in the afternoons.  Not to hot but not to cold.  I do believe that this is what we desire in our daily lives as well, however this is rarely a reality!  If you are normal the earthquakes and hurricanes come all the time, right?.  I guess this means that when it is nice out that we really have to take a step back and enjoy the eye of the storm!
The Parent Bridge meeting is only one day away and I am really looking forward to you all meeting for fellowship and encouragement.  It is important that you email me to let me know if you are in need of daycare for the hour.  I need to make sure that I have our youth staff in place to accommodate the need.  Amber and I will share letters that we have written to you as parents to begin the night followed by a short challenge concerning the power of the parent.  There will be a 20 minute roundtable / listening secession for parents to share.  Some organization and structure will be set up for future meetings as well as an agenda for the meeting in October.
Parent Bridge RSVP:  jshaeffer@trinityfdl.net
Subject Line:  Voice
I am also very excited to give a tool and resource to our school families concerning the Paul David Tripp Parenting Conference held on September 29-30th.  This will be a time for parents to sit down and focus on the needs of our homes especially when it comes to parenting.  This is an open event and I have invited a few people from outside of our school.  You can do the same.  I want to share this resource and not squander the opportunity to learn how to better parent my children.  I hope you are on board as well!
September 25 TBS will host a FREE AED TRAINING at school.  The training will begin at 5:30pm and focus on the use of the AED that is now located in our building.  If you are a TBS volunteer, parent, or student that wants to learn some basics about a defibrillator, this is your chance with no cost to you!  We want to be prepared to help save a life at TBS!

TBS Nation,
September 11th 2001 changed many things about our country.  Freedoms we experienced changed for good because of the attack launched against innocent and unsuspecting people.  There is no doubt that the men and women who served or currently serve our country are to be thanked for the relative peace we continue to enjoy.  I am so thankful for God’s protection on our school and on our families.  What a blessing it is to live in this country where Christian Education is still accepted and enjoyed.  What a blessing to be able to  share the TRUTH each day.

TBS is thankful for the opportunity to have the Richard and Karrie Woughter in our classes this morning!  They are missionaries to Nicaragua.  Students were able to hear of the power of the gospel and connect with individuals who are eager to serve Christ.  What a blessing!

TBS Nation,

Friday is here and we have officially made it to the end of the 3rd week of school. Tomorrow parents will be bombarded again with progress reports from teachers.  These reports will come in the form of pdf documents and will be our way of letting you see the progress of the students thus far. We are tracking grades closely to watch for good patterns as well as watching for patterns needing improvement.  Remember, staff welcomes your feedback from the classroom and we intend to keep those lines of communication open throughout the school year.  Watch your email accounts closely for these reports from Sycamore Education / Student(s) Teacher.

The TBS elementary went to the Wade House today and had a great time.  There was much learning that took place through several interesting hands-on experiences.  Thank you to Jodi Thorpe, Tiffany Spoor, Stephanie Hanes and Patty Abell for your help in driving and supervising the TBS Elementary – It was a big help!

TBS needs 5 more volunteers to help a the Kiwanis Pork Fest on September 28th.  We have staff and students committed but because we have fewer students in the upper grades we will need to ask for a few parent volunteers!  If interested please email jshaeffer@trinityfdl.net to sign up.  The working hours are from 4pm – 8pm at the Knights of Columbus in FDL!  Thanks

Auction Committee Members – Calling all who would be interested in helping with the TBS school auction.  We are not to far away from an initial meeting and we would like to invite any who have time to help procure items this season. Please contact Tiffany Spoor or Jeremy Shaeffer for more information concerning the auction process.  Volunteers are needed on October 19th & 21st to begin the donation solicitations!  Let us know if you would be willing to help!

With all the clutter in the schedule I don’t want to every loose the opportunity to express my joy in the ministry TBS experiences.  Each day your students walk into the school classrooms and sit down under our teaching to learn about TRUTH.  We celebrate these experiences and we treasure the victories we watch.  Congratulations to Lizzy Westra on a victory in Geometry!  She did not think she was going to do very well and spent some extra time going over lessons already completed.  Her efforts paid off today as she received a perfect score on her Cumulative Test this afternoon!  Keep up the good work Lizzy!

Today our Jr & Sr High music classes also received a live tutorial about the cello.  Arpad Muranyi (an accomplished cellist) spent the hour educating the students on the art of the instrument.  He played several examples and answered questions about the instrument.  Thank you Arpad to contributing your time and energy to give our music education a higher appreciation towards these musical disciplines!
Happy Friday / Have a great weekend everybody!

TBS Nation,

Congratulations to Mackenzie Rabe, Valerie Hanes, and Payton Rabe as they are the TBS Character Trait award recipients for the month of August.  The character trait integrity was demonstrated by these students during the beginning days of the school year.  It is very exciting to see students work hard at making an effort to demonstrate and work on these things.  Character building is not easy as it requires conscious decisions made even when nobody is looking.  The Bible tells us that none of us are perfect however we can strive to be like Jesus each day.  Congratulations to these and others who put forth the effort this month.

There is tremendous unrest in our world at the moment.  Sickness, storms, wildfires, war, and much more cloud the news headlines and it is somewhat overwhelming.  It is interesting that there is nothing that man can do to stop any of these things.  Nobody can stop hurricane Irma, nobody can stop North Korea’s threats, nobody can cure cancer, nobody can quench the wildfires of the West.  Man is helpless and we have to turn to the one who can aid us.  I don’t know what your mountain is, but I do know that God sees the climber and has plotted the journey.  It is our job to trust and find ways to love each other.  What are you doing in this regard?
Thursday the Elementary will be traveling to the WADE HOUSE for a scheduled field trip.  Thank you to those helping with this trip!  We hope to have a great time of learning and fellowship!  We leave from the parking lot at around 8:45am and return at 2:45pm.  See you tomorrow!

TBS Nation,

During the month of August TBS highlighted the character trait of Integrity (doing the right thing even when no one is watching).  Tomorrow, during chapel, TBS will present an award to three students who seemed to exemplify this trait during this first month.  As our year progress it is going to be awesome to watch students strive to achieve these awards as they grow in their character.  The month of September will focus on the character trait kindness.  In your own terms describe kindness?  Is it an act of service?  Is it a state of being?
Jesus said to be “kind to one another, tender-hearted forgiving one another….” This is hard to do because I see in scripture being kind usually surrounds itself with other character traits!  I guess we all have something to work on this month / the rest of our lives.

TBS Nation,

Today is the day that legally every student should be walking through the school doors.  This will be the first day for many and it will be the beginning of our third week!  Speaking of school doors check this out!  Randy and Jan Martin have worked over the weekend to get the painting to the entrance done and it matches the school sign.  We are doing what we can to make improvements on this place and make it look better.  Thanks Randy and Jan for the Help!
